What's worse?

Seeing the news was awful today. In a couple of hours the death toll after the tsunami escalated from hundreds to thousands. I was shocked and worried. A part of me was feeling pretty much like after I saw the news in 9/11. You just keep thinking that what you're seeing on TV can't be happening, it must be a mistake. Alas, those things are never a mistake no matter how much you wish they were.
At some point I decided to come online and even if I don't have much faith in news forums I still went ahead and checked one. I wanted to throw up. Some people were actually happy. They were saying that those "sub-humans" dying was the best Christmas present ever. Some were even thanking God or Jesus. How can they? How can they act like that? The people dying were innocent human beings judged only because of where they live, because of the color of their skin and some because of their religion. How can someone get happy over so much death is beyond my comprehension. What if it had been them or their relatives? They don't even place themselves in someone else's shoes, they just don't care.
I'll place aside my religious believes this time around. When I read a comment among the lines of "Jesus got rid of those sub-human darkies" besides making me cringe at such reaction I couldn't help but wonder some things. Maybe all those people using the lovely word "darkies" don't actually know Jesus was Jewish. Now, Jewish generally doesn't mean you'll encounter a blond blue-eyed person. Actually Jesus was most likely dark-skinned and was quite far away from any European look. Thinking that plus the fact that Jesus was actually quite a loving man giving people second chances and defending those that were judged, how can these people judge under the name of Jesus? Maybe I don't know enough about Christianity or the Bible but wasn't Jesus something completely different than those expressions of hatred? I don't get it, I don't get it at all. In a way it saddens me to see how very ugly some people are.
