I'm Angry

Yeay, I just finished a 1520 words essay!!! Now I want to write in here but I have no idea what to say. I could probably talk about the news but the biggest one outside of the US is the attack that a school suffered. In case you don't watch the news, a group of Chechenian rebels held more than 1,000 kids and a part of their families hostage at a school in Belan, Russia. More than 350, including children, died in the siege when after several days of keeping them as hostages without giving them food or water, the rebels started blowing up bombs inside the school. In addition, 26 hostage-takers -- including 10 people from Arab countries -- and at least 10 Russian Special Forces troops died. More than 700 people were wounded, 448 people were still in hospitals in the region, including 248 children, 69 of them in serious condition. The regional health ministry said 180 people are still missing.

The first question that comes to mind is why? What did the children and their families have to do with this? Why do they have to pay for a conflict that has been going on for centuries? The only thing they are guilty of is of being Russians. Ah but me being sickened and angry about this whole thing doesn't stop there. After reading the news I naturally wanted to know other people's reactions to this. I cheked a news message board and to my surprise (and disgust) people were flaming eachother about their political beliefs. Things like "It's Bush's fault" and "This is going to make Kerry loose the elections" flooded the board about Russia's big tragedy. Instead of feeling sympathetic, sad or even moved they made it all about themselves. Now can someone tell me what a conflict that has been going since the nineteenth century has to do with American politics? People in Russia right now couldn't care less who wins, they just suffered a painful lost.

Maybe if people stopped being so goddamn self-centered this wouldn't have happened. Maybe if people actually cared about what happens to others not only within their country but also outside of it things would be better. Ah, nevermind I just got upset again. I'll better go do something else.
